Dragon iron has been used by humanity ever since the Prime Gods created them. It remains prized for both its anti-demon and anti-metaphysical capabilities. For metaphysicals, if dragon iron gets into their system, it will completely shut off their ability to use craetus. Due to this quality, dragon iron stands as the only way to properly contain metaphysicals. Even merely touching the metal causes a metaphysical to slowly lose the ability to use craetus in the area touching it.
But its anti-demonic properties make it even more valuable. The Chained are extremely durable by themselves, resistant to physical weaponry. Even more worrying, each demon has a number of chains based on their classification. If even one of these chains remains uncut, the Chained will regenerate from any injury laid upon it. And these links are even more durable than the demon’s flesh. However, dragon iron will slice through a demon’s hide and chains as if they were nothing. Further still, each Chained will emit a psychic aura around them that can debilitate all but the strongest-willed individuals with horrific sensations. Yet, if a person holds onto dragon iron, they become immune to these effects. In addition, a person of sufficient faith can even cause the flame to burst into flame, based on the god they worship: black for Andras, silver for Inarus, or gold for Moraxis. When a mortal faces a demon holding dragon iron, they will find their speed and strength increase to better match the insidious foe.
Dragon iron can only be found within volcanoes. While it is not as rare as mythril or lyshan crystals, it is still not common. This combined with the difficulty of extracting it makes it still a valuable resource.
The dragon iron metal is weaker than xanthium by a considerable degree. So, while a normal, or “blanksoul” may be protected from craetus by wearing dragon iron armor, they would be woefully unprotected from conventional means of attack. Plus with the non-magnetic properties of dragon iron, a dragon iron bullet cannot be fired from normal mag-weaponry. Gunpowder weaponry must be used.
