Sharileb: Heir to Forever of Maska. Bane of Angels. The Hand of Maska. The Gravegiver. An old demon, Maska created her after the First War. Inarus’s armies had devastated Maska’s forces, and the Mistress of Entropy needed new generals. Sharileb proved well-suited to the task. During the Chained Schism, Sharileb successfully defended Maska’s realm from incursions by the other Chained Gods. Sharileb, with the help of her Heir sister, even successfully drove back Morskar’s forces. After the Schism ended, Maska tasked Sharileb with slowing down the progress of the mortals as much as possible. Progress infuriated Maska.
So Sharileb spent many centuries sending whispers to those most partial to her words. Several cults sprung forth, working to replace the progress of mortals with pure entropy. Sharileb’s work eventually culminated in an era known as the Midnight Centuries. In 1501 B.E.G., a coordinated attack by Maska cultists and demons set fire to almost every repository of knowledge that mankind had available. They targeted prominent researchers, scientists, and thinkers and assassinated as many as they could. All orchestrated by Sharileb. The great worship to Maska allowed the cultists to bring Sharileb down onto Haven. Once arrived, Sharileb cursed Haven with a global winter, which only abated once the forces of the Prime Gods banished the demon back to Utopia.
Sharileb made her appearance again during the Gore War. Whatever corpse the technovirus had not consumed became part of her undead legions. Many systems were conquered under the Heir’s directive. Sharileb also took special care to dim the stars of the systems she conquered, making the worlds permanently uninhabitable.
The final time she was summoned so far was on the planet of Murshult, a world deep in Ostrus territory. Before the Ostrus mounted an effective response, she had slain millions. A task force of Templars led by Lux Drake Trarora and Lord Cardinal Volk Vlasi later arrived to banish the Heir. The two successfully cut three of her chains, but Sharileb forced them to retreat after suffering severe casualties. Not wanting the world to fall into the hands of the Chained, the two disabled the entropy field surrounding Murshult. The battleships above then commenced a cleansing with their fusion cannons. An action that would be known as the “Burning of Murshult.” The atmosphere itself ignited and the continents cracked under the assault. The bombardment consumed millions more still trapped on the planet. Several salvos specifically targeted Sharileb’s location. There have been no further reports of Sharileb, so it is believed that her final chain was broken during the bombardment.
Sharileb is unique among other Heirs of Maska. The rest sport four heads, each with their own intelligence. Shortly after her creation, Sharileb killed the other heads, mounting their skulls upon herself.
Like with any Heir to Forever of Maska, Sharileb must document all deaths by her hand. Maska treasures each completed book. It is Maska’s dream that every living being will become only a name in her cold, dead universe.
